"It came with a "congratulations on your new arrival" card
and I wondered how they knew he had been born. (I doubt they send these
until the baby arrives because I can't imagine having a stillbirth and
receiving one of these.) "
Actually, it happens a lot. We had a mom on a BF support board I belong to
post to us begging us to tell her how to get them to stop sending her stuff.
She'd had a miscarriage and the ABM stuff started arriving around her baby's
due date, making an already difficult time worse. To make matters worse,
when she called them and explained [not that she should have to] why she
couldn't bear to get them anymore, she got a letter in the mail a week or so
later with a huge can of RTF ABM saying, "Thank you for your recent
inquiry"!! Further calls elicited the response "We're sorry but it's a
computer glitch" and more follow-up letters and free samples. We suported
her the best way we knew how and encouraged her to donate the products to a
foster care agency.
