I can't remember who said that she isn't breastfeeding
her 4 yo to provide comfort, but instead to provide
nutrition. Heh, if comfort is a problem for "some
people" I'd like to ask them why. we are, after all,
raising baby humans, not snakes, so why not love them
and comfort them? I nurse my almost 3 yo because it
settles him for a nap and reassures him during the
night. The milk is probably valuable to him too, but
it isn't my primary motivating consideration.

I just read Susan's email on talking to moms about
breastfeeding *before* they show up at her BF hospital
and that brought a question to mind- ARe there
differences in epidural and surgical birth rates
between Baby Friendly hospitals and other hospitals?
Common sense tells me that the rates would be lower at
Baby Friendly hospitals, but I fear that might not be
so.
