My older mom delivered this morning by c-section due to failed induction
(insert rolling eyes here.) Surgery was rough for mom and lots of
additional meds were given, so it was almost two hours before I could help
her get baby to breast. The baby, bless her heart, though, was as
cooperative as could be wanted. I laid her across her mom's chest and she
lifted up her head, opened her mouth and latched right on. Mom was so
impressed that baby seemed to know what to do! So at least we're starting
off well and we'll watch them closely. Forewarned is forarmed as they
say. Thanks for all of your input.

Also, after all the discussion on cross cradle I thought you'd like to know
I have found a very good use for it in my own life. My baby often comes on
rounds with me, and I'm right handed. When she needs to nurse on the right
and I'm charting, cross cradle hold works well!
