I have a client at 39.5 weeks with twins who will be induced at 6am tomorrow.  Why?  He doctor says she is "too far past term with twins" and "her blood pressure *may* start to increase"!  PLEASE -- several weeks ago I emailed her every bit of information I had on initiating labor at home.  She's tried several things, including three rounds of acupuncture.  I'm praying she goes into labor between now and the morning.

A plug for the book "Impact of Birthing Practices on Breastfeeding -- Protecting the Mother and Baby Continuum" by Mary Kroeger with Linda J. Smith.  I have no financial interest in the book, but a great regard for the information presented.  Essentially, until we (as a culture) begin to integrate the effects of birthing on the breastfeeding ability of the infant we (as a culture) will continue to struggle with an inordinate amount of "breastfeeding failure".  Do pedi's and OBs ever discuss this type of thing?
