I am rather repelled by the idea that infant formula
has such a long shelf life, but I don't see that as a
factor that will dissuade parents from choosing
formula. I can see it viewed as "infant formula is
such a great product that it can be stored for 3
years! Therefore it will be fresh, no matter when I
need it. I don't need to worry that it will go bad!"
I know that attitude was supposed to have left with
the kitchen-free homes of the 50's, but it's still
there. after all, we wouldn't need to talk about
things like the Feingold diet if we were eating pure,
whole foods, would we?

the flip side of that is the issue of living cells in
fresh mother's milk. We know that's a positive, but I
*know* there are people out there who are repelled by
the idea of ingesting living cells, or by the thought
of giving them to their baby.

I don't know how to address these, especially since
the latter is a gut reaction; an emotional reaction
not based on fact.
