My funniest experience breastfeeding in public happened while I sat on a
bench in the middle of the mall to nurse my toddler. As I sat there nursing my
daughter and looked around I realized I was directly in front of a camera that
was scanning the area. I laughed to myself when I realized the home security
booth in front of us had likely captured our nursing break. I often wondered
if anyone viewed that tape...

I've also nursed in a first grade classroom (again, a toddler) while reading
to a small group of older daughter's classmates; at the Metropolitan Museum
while gazing at the Christmas tree amid hundreds of visitors; on the train to NY
City; in checkout lines at grocery and dept stores-once did the whole
purchase including signing for purchase with child at breast, asleep; on a well lit
bus at night, coming home from a concert.

I must admit I wasn't always comfortable in above situations but it sure beat
a crying child; reactions from those around me varied from ,"ah, how sweet,"
to clucking of tongues and disapproving looks. I have a wonderful set of
pictures of my 1 1/2 yr old holding a kitten while she nursed; I've also "tandem
nursed" Cabbage Patch dolls and various stuffed animals at daughters' request
(these in the privacy of home).

Nice trip down memory lane...
