Rather than focusing on a research article for the dentistry community in
regard to breastmilk composition, one might inquire about whether these
particular dentists are investing in the lactoferrin industry ( there are transgenic
dairy herds situated in Finland linked to once was called Pharming-
Netherlands). From these transgenic herds one can separate various components (human
lactoferrin gene is crossed into these herds) and use them to make various dental
products. Human milk would be the competition. The Institute of Dentristy in
Finland seems involved in the R&D of "bovine colostrum" which is more than
likely cloned milk from cows who have had the human lactoferrin gene added to
their genetics. Investments in this day and age have overpowered science.

Innate human salivary defence proteins, lysozyme, lactoferrin and peroxidase,
are known to exert a wide antimicrobial activity against a number of
bacterial, viral and fungal pathogens in vitro. Therefore, these proteins, alone or in
combinations, have been incorporated as preservatives in foods and
pharmaceuticals as well as in oral health care products to restore salivas' own
antimicrobial capacity in patients with dry mouth. These antimicrobials used in oral
health care products, such as dentifrices, mouth-rinses, moisturizing gels and
chewing gums, have been purified from bovine colostrum. In this review I
critically evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of this kind of preventive
approach against various oral diseases and symptoms.
