Thanks Kathleen for your comments and others regarding working for pay
in helping others. I too must add that I am so grateful for your support
and others through your work. I have been in this profession over 20
years and a registered nurse for 35 years.
I do volunteer work helping others and involved with breastfeeding work
for 35 years
In the 70's there were no companies and products like today, there were
no Thomas Hale books, no rental places in our area, very few reference
books, on and on-I must say that I am very grateful to Medela,
Hollister, and many other who provide support needed..
Yes, I have received pay for my work in both professions. I also have no
problem receiving pay for this work. As others have stated, in the US
many must work to pay the bills, have health insurance, etc. I work for
pay along with great pleasure serving others. I feel very happy in my
work when I see that maybe I have helped others in ways that will never
be known. Each country represented in this media have their differences
and perhaps if we could be in each others shoes for awhile we could
understand better.
Please let us all work together, support one another, for we have so
much to offer moms and babies in doing so.
Helen Curless,RN,IBCLC,CLE Kentucky- proud of our country
