Hello everyone again,
I also have been reading the discussion on hospital gowns with some
amazement. I am a British Midwife and have never seen anyone wear a gown in
hospital for either delivery or the PP period, in either UK or Germany. Could the
answer in the US be that the women are allowed to wear their own clothes, so
that they may be more comfortable and at ease in hospital and when learning
breast feeding.
Is there some rule in America that says women must wear hospital gowns, in
the UK many women find it much easier to strip off their top layers completely
to learn the art of breast feeding.
These are only my opinions and I am aware that there are many differing
practises around the world.
I love to read the views of many people from other areas.
Regards to all,
Alex Southcott RN, RM, IBCLC.
