I spoke with Ruth Lawrence about whether a baby could receive human milk
during a bone marrow transplant procedure.  She says human milk could be
used provided it was pasteurized during the period that the baby is being
sheltered from pathogens.  Once the baby is "out in the world," direct
breastfeeding could be resumed.

She said the problem is both that all breastmilk contains *some* bacteria,
and that the immunoglobulins in the milk are thought by some to conflict
with what the procedure is trying to accomplish.
