Just had to respond to Margaret Bickmore's mention of this study, which was
done in my county, and one of the co-authors, Jorunn Ulriksen, is a
pediatrician on our unit. It was a case-control study where the data are
provided after the fact, and could be subject to recall bias, so one should
be cautious in drawing conclusions. Still, the difference seemed to be
quite noticeable between the groups, so if nothing else it should push us to
do prospective cohort studies to examine this relationship more closely. I
bet the cod liver oil industry (doh!) will put up the money for it.
