... I was wondering if anyone else had ever heard this one ...

I usually throw the question "What is the strangest thing you were told about breastfeeding?" or some form of that, when I am having trouble getting a group of mothers talking in a group, for whatever reason. So, this one came up at a meeting a few weeks ago, and it's the first time I have EVER heard it ... usually this question brings up a lot of the good old wives' tales that can then be dispelled, but this "myth" must be fairly new as we learn more about the physiology of the breast! So, one of the mothers had a friend tell her that "if she let the baby suck too hard when her breast was empty he would pull the milk ducts out through the holes in the nipples."

Unfortunately the mother who believed it wasn't there, but the rest of us had fun discussing it!

70 mile per hour winds and snow drifts from Alaska,
Heidi
