On the discussion about political (and social) activism, I thought I'd mention a
book I just finished reading--
"The Tipping Point: How little Things Can Make a Big Difference", by Malcolm
Gladwell. It came out in 2000. It is fascinating! And a pretty quick read--extremely
relevant for anyone interested in social change and/or human psychology.
His basic point is that "fads" and "trends" take off when a factor or combination of
certain factors combine to "tip" the trend. He gives many examples, mostly in the
US, but there are a few international stories as well.
I highly recommend it!
