Dear Janet,
I counselled a mum years ago whose child always seemed very distressed for
hours after receiving EBM in a bottle. After much detective work on the
part of the mother we came to the conclusion that the *thing* that was
upsetting her baby was the chemical sterilising solution that she was using
to disinfect the bottles and teats in. Once she started boiling her
bottles/teats/pump parts on the stove no further problems. I bumped into
this mum years later in the supermarket and she mentioned that this child,
who was then 7 years, was very sensative to house hold cleaners, washing
powders, soaps and shampoos.
Perhaps this may be worth investigating with your mum/baby?
regards Susan
