Many patents on human lactoferrin state its intended use for dental care.

Lactoferrin is also in some shampoo and conditioner I have. They also have
iron in it for some supposed magnetic effect. I had tried samples of them and
liked them not knowing they had lactoferrin (nor really impressed by
'magnetic' in the name). I suppose the lactoferrin acts as a carrier for the iron
compound.
