I agree with Heather. Before beginning relactation, solving the problem/s
that led to weaning is crucial (or at least recognising them and knowing how
this might impact lactation). This might not be easy.

Relactation is quite simple but can be difficult just the same and support
is really important.
I think that often we overfocus on the nutritional aspects of breastfeeding.
Breastfeeding may be for a whole heap of good reasons that have nothing to
do with milk eg intimate touch between mother and baby (with a whole heap of
associated hormonal and other results that help build attachment between
baby and mother), for comfort, because the child is tired and suckling helps
them to go to sleep (perfect timing, I'm just being called for such a
purpose myself) etc. Breastfeeding can work in that way whatever milk is
made.
