Thanks to all who replied to me about the mom recovering from
a cesarean birth, with large breasts and flat nipples. After
initial reluctance, she did rent a Lactina, and found it
worked much better than the Pump In Style. So, milk supply
increasing and formula supps stopped! Flat nipples everting
over time thanks to patience, perseverance and a few days
with a nipple shield (not using anymore).
Now mom is exclusively breastfeeding, baby is thriving,
happily ever after and all that!
whew!
This is a mom who was very determined to BF and educated
herself while pregnant. She looked for and found support when
she needed it. And she confessed (at 2 weeks postpartum) that
for few days (about days 5-7) that she questioned her
resolve and ability to BF and now understands why so many
women quit.
She didn't fall between the cracks...but so many others do.
What a shame that when there are BF challenges, only the
women who are strong and/or lucky stay with it.
