The debate on what is the best and safest storage container has been batted
around for the past several months but I am not getting a consensus of what is
safest with solid proof behind it.
I am looking for the research on what makes a plastic container "food safe"
as appose unsafe. Who sponsors this research? Is it a company that produces
plastic containers? How does one know in a cabinet full of plastic (old and
new) which ones are safe?
The latest news is that one should not heat in plastic. Does this mean a
certain temperature is unsafe? So running under warm water to take the chill off
cold milk is the same as heating in plastic?
How do we know that the newest "food safe" plastic container is safer than
the sterile specimen containers?
What are the possible long term effects of using plastics? If anyone can
direct me to a person or place that can help me answer these questions I would
appreciate it.
I am not one who just hears that this product is better or safer without
understanding the science behind it.
I think we all should approach this a little slower on what is best and what
is not safe until we have some solid proof.
