I was so nervous as PNP when I started doing newborn exams at hospital that the nurses brought babies into nursery, I checked them and then took them back to mom to talk. After about 3 months of this I said something in a conversation to my daughter, the nursery nurse, about this system. She looked at me in total shock and said "aren't you the person who lectures on non separation of mother/baby? " All I could say was duh and laugh and quickly mended my ways :-) My only defense is that I was so focused on doing a good exam and handling the myriad of paperwork that I forgot the basic principle that I truly believe in. So now you know one of my dark secrets ;-) Pat in SNJ
