Hello all.
I just want to say that I went to the "201 Reasons to Formula Feed" and I
was deeply saddened for each of the women who offered their story.
Only two stories actually made sense to me, at least a bit. One mother was
on a "cocktail" of meds for severe allergies and did not want to pass the
cocktail on to her child. Another story was about a NICU baby
with "preferences" due to early bottle/pacifier use. The mother stopped
providing EBM, however.
The rest of the stories sounded like a lot of moms got bad information,
little or no help from LCs, some seemingly bad help from LCs, or simply
gave up (due to the other reasons). Quite often I find our American moms
putting themselves first, above all else, including feeding and the health
their children. I do not find this with as many of our foreign moms.
Nevertheless, I feel the site is needed for these moms who have chosen to
formula-feed for whatever reason. Support helps.
I just wish that for every sad story, there was a fabulous LC to help right
the wrongs of the BF experience. That would be an ideal support-group web
site!
