Whoa, I have no idea how you did this!
Today I had what I consider to be a "busy day", saw and charted on 6 diads
and one NICU baby/ Mom. This filled my day without too much stress but
required me to manage time well. IME your day would be an impossibility and I am
considered a "fast worker" in my department!
As for staffing we have 6 LCs, all work 24-32hrs and 2 "counselors"(THEY
handle most breast pump aquisition and instruction). The hospital does >9000
deliveries/year and has a 60 (or so) bed NICU. Our initiation rate is a little
over 50% (not great, I know) and we generally staff 2 LCs every day (1on
Sun)inpatient and 1 LC for the outpatient clinic. Our nurse manager is wonderful;
would NEVER expect your kind of productivity and has the intelligence and
experience to know that those 26 come at a high price.
Good Luck!
