Dear colleagues,
Do any of you have citations for *recent* (no older than 5 years,
preferably newer) research on breast augmentation and impact on breastfeeding? We
have a plastic surgeon in the area who, it seems, has been telling moms that
inserting the implant through a periareolar incision, supposedly done in some
"new way", will heal up and allow the mother to breastfeed fine in 2 years.
Of course, there is always the possibility that the woman in question didn't
"get" something correct when she was discussing the subject before her surgery.
But now it is 2 1/2 years later, she has a brand-new baby, and is having
trouble making milk. (Actually, two moms in the same week at the same hospital,
though 2 diff. doctors.) Would like recent citations that show either positive
or negative impact of styles of implant surgery on breastfeeding, if any
exist. Would like to compare "our" citations with any the surgeon may be able to
offer.
Thanks.
