Now I am working with a dyad who has struggled with GI service to keep the
baby on Breastmilk. This baby has gone through a lot. She is 5 months old,
only 10 pounds, status post cardiac surgery (will need three more
surgeries), has a gastric button due to extreme reflux, and she has had
extreme oral aversion (which was improving until she got sick again). She
has a hx of not tolerating Pregestimil. She has not be home, out of the
hospital for more than 1.5 weeks total in her life. Now she is in the
hospital for bloody stools diagnosed as coronavirus and the GI doctors are
have stopped the breast milk and put her on pregestimil again. Please help
me help this Mom. Does coronavirus contraindicate breastmilk? Do you have
any info on this?
Please email me privately as well as to the list. Thank you all for your
help.
