In the hospital where I work we now use a leaflet published by the NHS
(National Health Service). I have found it very good to help teach mothers
about positioning and attachment. You can find it on
www.breastfeeding.nhs.uk
Click on 'about breastfeeding' and then on 'how to breastfeed'.
Once mothers see the pictures they seem to understand that putting the baby
on the breast is quite different from giving the baby a bottle. I also use
the Unicef leaflet to explain a little anatomy and these two leaflets
together have made it a lot easier for me to explain latching.
