I am a Lactation Consultant in New York City (too far from Rochester to
help, I'm afraid). The part of this post which stands out for me is: "Mom
stopped all her dairy intake (milk, cheese, pizza, cake etc), nut etc , and
drinks only soy milk. But the baby's allergy continued."
If a mother substitutes soy products for milk products in a diet which is
dependent on dairy, a soy allergy can easily arise. Bloody stools, mentioned
in other posts, can sometimes be seen when this happens ( a vegan mother in
a LLL group I led years ago saw this).
There was also another post about an immediate skin reaction to
breastfeeding: I assume peanuts were ruled out here.
The old LLL advice to eat a variety of food, in as unprocessed a state as
possible, organically grown if possible: it looks better and better as the
years go by.
