I want to thank all of the Lactnetters who responded to my post about the mom with the areolar bruise and baby with clenching latch.  Special thanks go out to Katherine Shealy and Kathy Eng who responded so quickly and with such wonderful suggestions.  I spoke with the mom this week and she is doing much better!  Unfortunately, my children did not allow a long conversation to find out exactly what seems to be doing the trick.  I do know that the mom really was unsatisfied with using pumping as a crutch, and is much happier to be actively nursing.
