I haven't been able to get rid of the bags, but I do get on my
soapbox every time I hear someone refer to them as "gifts"! If they
must be given out, at least call them what they are-advertising
samples. Every time I hear a nurse refer to them as gifts, I simply
say "Sample bags, not gift bags". Some get annoyed with me or
simply roll their eyes, but a few have changed what they say. When
I see one in a mom's room or the nurse pops in with one while I'm
there, I definitely point out to the parents what the true purpose
of the bags is. Some will stop and say "Wow, I never realized
that".

What really corks me is the way some nurses seem to thrive on the
thanks the parents give them when they present the bags-as if they
had provided them out of the goodness of their hearts! Nurses
wouldn't take credit for giving parents the flowers they may
deliver, so why take credit for the advertising promotion they
provide?

Now I will take a few deep breaths to bring my blood pressure back
down!

Winnie
