How many child deaths can we prevent this year?
Jones G, Steketee R, Black R, Bhutta Z, Morris S, and the Bellagio Child
Survival Study Group
From Lancet July 5, 2003

This is the second article in a current Child Survival series in Lancet. A
quick scan of the article shows that in each instance, breastfeeding is the
number one strategy listed. Many of the other listed strategies are
components of effective breastfeeding support (such as Newborn Temperature
Management).

A login is required to read articles on Lancet, but it is free and as far as
I can tell doesn't yield any spam.

Reducing child mortality: can public health deliver?
Bryce J, el Arifeen S, Pariyo G, Lanata C, Gwatkin D, Habicht, and the
Multi-Country Evaluation of IMCI Study Group

Speaking of Real Simple - Dr. Petrikovsky is a favorite quoted 'expert' in
the 'popular' parenting magazines, etc. He seems to have quite a side
business going. *sigh* He seems to always show up in the pathetic articles
about the non-importance of bf.
