I may be piping up too late on this (I'm again behind in reading), but my
son was also with great weight gain, but smelly, infrequent (only on
Sundays I used to joke).
This was reduced when I worked on my high milk supply. He was spitting up
terribly and it DID stink - I had to use a diaper at all times (remember
cloth diapers?) because he spit up during and after feedings...
Once I got to feeding him from only one breast for 6 hours (I tried 3 and
it only helped a little) then both the spitting up and the infrequent
stools (which actually, I hadn't worried about or tried to "treat"), went
away.
