Hello all,
Check out this article in Health, another Time Inc. magazine. (July/August 2003 issue)

Taking Care of Babies (and Business)
Bristol-Myers Squibb, Princeton, New Jersey
Total employees: 18,290 (49 percent female)
The makers of Excedrin help working moms stay headache-free naturally by
keeping their children in close proximity. The company subsidizes 40 percent of the
operating costs of three on-site child-care centers (a fourth opened in June). Nearly
400 preschool- and kindergarten-age children are enrolled. Extended hours -- from
6:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. -- take the pressure off moms when meetings start early or run
late. For executives like Judianne Hare, 42, director of operations, the accessibility
is reassuring. She nurses her 6-month-old daughter at lunch, and she can get from
her desk to the center in only three minutes. "They really treat my kids like their
own," says Hare, whose 2 1?2-year-old son also attends.
Other perks:
Chefs in the corporate cafeterias cook any dish to order and maintain
profiles of all staffers with food allergies.
Expectant parents are given free pagers through the company's Baby Beep
program. Last year, 470 workers used beepers to stay in touch with
spouses and child-care providers. Bristol-Myers also offers free baby formula
(like Enfamil, which is manufactured by a division of the company) to all
parents throughout a child's first year; lactation rooms are available as well
for breast-feeding moms.
The company's fitness center provides T-shirts, shorts, and tube socks so
that employees don't have to lug sweaty gear to and from work.
Interesting, isn't it?
I did what I had to do and wrote a letter to the editor...no response yet.
