Amy,
here's some links that may help (about dealing with the media - not with the
content of what you should say about lactation)
this is probably the best - specific to radio:
There are a few tips here:

Also try:

These are more about interviews in general:

I've done a few radio interviews, both taped and live. I also was a guest
on a phone in show (and no one phoned in, so I got alot of airtime!).
I actually like live interviews better, they can't edit you and you can hog
the airtime - ie if you just keep talking and are making sense and are
interesting, they won't cut you off.
For the talk radio show, I roled played on the phone with Jodine Chase,
first, that helped alot.
You've probably heard this before, and *I* am slowly learning this the hard
way, but you need to carefully think of and memorize a few KEY messages, and
make sure you say them over and over. Rambling will get you in trouble. If
they are a little bit "sexy" or *outrageous*, even better, they will use
sound bites like that to promote the show, or maybe use them in the news
portion or lead-ins to the show. For example, I once said "This (a milk
bank) is not a frill. This is not optional. This is what we need to be
giving our mothers and our children" I had stated this strongly and with
passion, and this is what they used in the promos, and on the website news
item. I hadn't really PLANNED for that to be my "sound bite", but it was
okay.
This was basically all that remained of a one hour telephone interview!
Good luck, and good work.
