I remember Phenol from nursing school many years ago.  It is the
original germ-killer.  It works by coagulating protein, if my memory is
correct.  It is used in very, very dilute form because it destroys
tissue.  I doubt that it has any systemic effect, but who knows!  Every
other germ-killer that is made has a Phenol-coefficient- - a number that
tells you how effective it is as compared to Phenol.

Have you heard about how Vicks VapoRub kills nail fungus?  Maybe this
mother could try that first.  If it works, she is cured and has less
nasal congestion, too.
