To Laurie Wheeler's list, I would like to add the
mothers who bf all day while in hospital, then bottle
feed AIM all night (thus causing head injury to
lactation staff from banging head on desk in
frustration...)

One mom reported that she did this with her first, but
had "problems with her supply and *really* sore
nipples" (big surprise). Hopefully now that Baby #2
is here, a bedside "crash course" on the importance of
a DEEP latch (Baby was on the shaft of the nipple) and
the physiology of lactation (frequent emptying of
breast means MORE MILK) inspired her to quit giving
the d**n bottles...thus creating problems where none
might exist. She had GREAT nipples for breastfeeding,
too.
<heavy sigh>
Carole
