We were fortunate to have Linda Smith speak at this month's LLL of
Colorado/Wyoming Area Conference and Health Care Professional
Seminar. She, and a co-author whose name I can't recall at the
moment, have a new book coming out on just this subject: how birth
practices affect breastfeeding. It promises to be a groundbreaker
and I for one am looking forward to reading it! Linda talked a bit
about some of the research in this area (there is some!), and it is
fascinating. Unfortunately it can be infuriating too, as we see how
detrimental is our standard (American) way of birth to breastfeeding.
