Barbara Wilson-Clay presents:
<< The total irony of this is that as the big Ad Council/Dept. of Women's
Health marketing of breastfeeding campaign gears up, I often wonder do we
have the infrastructure to even deal with increased referrals? >>
Barbara,
I always love your eloquent way with words....I totally agree with your
entire message posted, but the above account presents itself strongly to me.
I predict that the community surrounding me is going to get hit hard once
this campaign comes around, and that we will not be able to keep up with the
challenges that lie ahead. I had a call today from a mom looking for an LC
to respond to her call for a couple of days. I presume she didn't get her
call returned earlier because of the lack of services available already and
this campaign hasn't even hit yet. I returned her call for her today, and I
couldn't meet her needs, but I did take the responsibility to get someone who
could meet her needs. Again, I strongly urge us to learn to collaborate
amongst ourselves to meet the needs of the clients. This mom's impression
with her experience is that we need more LC's as there's not enough of us to
provide the services.
