Lucy,

We have an over flow OB unit up on a peds floor. The beds are grouped in rooms at the end of the hall and the nurses have to be dedicated just to post partum. They can not cross over and take care of the peds patients that day. This was per JACHO. Sometimes it can be problem with staffing when the census is low for the pp patients and the nurse can't take care of anyone else.

Warmly,
Donna Goggin-Dolwick, RN, BSN, LCCE, IBCLC
