I worked with one mother who presented with a skin tag on her nipple,
connected with thin string-like tissue. It was on my very first day of
working as a lactation consultant August 1, 1997! I was concerned about
the baby sucking and pulling it off and being a choking hazard - I don't
remember every detail, but it really looked like it could be a potential
choking hazard for baby. I showed it to the midwife who showed it to the
OB doc there that day, they both agreed with me. The OB doc tied it off
with some suture and then cut it off. Baby then latched on and nursed
well, no complaints of pain from mother, very minimal bleeding.
