I'm wondering if anyone knows where I can find information (or if someone
knows and wishes to share with me) a link between prolactin levels and body
fatness. I know that fertility is slower to return to women with less body
fat and that prolactin levels, regulated by frequency, length and intensity
of suckling impact the return to fertility post-birth. However, I was not
aware of the mechanism behind the association between prolactin levels and
body fatness. A paper I read recently alluded to (but did not elaborate
upon) a direct link between lower body fatness and higher prolactin levels
ie a woman with less fatness will have higher prolactin levels than a woman
with more fatness the degree of breast stimulation being the same.
Can anyone enlighten me further?
