My friend (a nurse) is due with her 4th baby. Her first pregnancy about 6
years ago was a stillborn. She has had the doctor induce her between 35-36 weeks
with the other two children so that they would not be stillborn. Her daughter
is almost 6 and her son is 3 years old. This baby she wants to induce early
too.

Just yesterday she was discussing this very issue of pumping the breastmilk
after having her stillborn. She said she had so much milk come in and no one to
give it to. She wished that she had pumped to give it to another baby. Even
if this was just for a short time this would have helped her in her grieving
process. No one had suggested that to her.

She asked me if I thought it was too late for her to write a letter to the
hospital that they should present this as an option to women that have had a
stillborn.

It is certainly an individual choice but may help many get through this
difficult time.
