Hallo to all
We recently had a newborn baby in a hospital transfered to a bigger hospital with
propionic acid acidemia. This was something very unfamiliar and even the local docters and
pediatritions could tell us exactly what this is. The baby had extreme tagipnea, had
acidocis, was very red allover the body, had a very high temperature and his urine smelled
very strong. The mom was told that her baby is allergic to all dairy products and that she
can never breastfeed her baby.
Is there anyone out there who delt with something like this before? The paramedic who did
the transfer asked me to try and find out more about this condition.
Thank you
