If a kid is going to be on a liquid diet for a while can there be a better
liquid for him to have other than breastmilk? High calorie, low volume, full
of immunological features, suckling will increase his pain threshold, GI
hormones will calm and sedate him-sounds a better bet to me than Jello.
And why would the act of breastfeeding be any more risky than using a straw
in a milkshake-I presume the doctor isn't intending tube feeding for several
weeks post operatively???
