I think it's a great idea to talk about different mammals and their
milk. Maybe make a chart with mammal pix on the left, then have the
percentages of fat in each mammals' milk in the next column, and maybe
how often they nurse?? Dia Michaels used to have a fun booklet of these
kinds of trivial facts -- but if I remember rightly, it's also in
Lawrence?? Also to figure out how long various mammals nurse - don't
quite know where you'd get the info, but it would also go with the
discussion of the characteristics of humans that make breastmilk so
lovely. (One of our kids books had a list like this and my kids all
thought it was a hoot that the chart showed human nurslings as all done
with nursing at nine months of age.)
A set of balls for stomach size would be great too (marble, shooter
marble, golf ball and baseball).
