Makes me think of pertussis, parapertussis.
Barking cough in paroxysms (also called staccato cough), posttussive emesis
and feeding difficulties are classic for pertussis. The runny nose, fever and
other respiratory distress do not always come with this.
I think about pertussis in young infants especially if there may be adults
around with prolonged upper respiratory symptoms, older children who may not
have been vaccinated against pertussis. As a pediatrician I would want to get
additional family history.
