Dear Lactnetters,
This is an off-topic mail to warn about a computer worm that is going wild
since a few days. It is called the "blaster worm" and info can be found on
microsoft and symantec. Symantec (and the other antivirus companies of
course) has a program to get rid of it and microsoft has issued a new
security patch to prevent (re)infection.
I'd just like to warn people to update their virus definitions today so that
they do not get infected. I got hit and it anoyed me no end until I realised
it was an infection (it's a program that keeps restarting windows).
This is not a hoax thing going around, it's actually real and can infect
your computer and until today (or yesterday?) it was not among symantecs
virus definitions. So to be sure - fire walls up and new definitions
downloaded!
