I just received an e-mail request for information from a mom who was told
that her baby's "diarrhea" (baby is 3 months old and having 4 stools a day
- after only having a stool every 4 - 7 days) was tested and had "abundant
leukocytes" - so she was told she must be causing an allergic reaction
through her breast milk. She has stopped dairy products but the "diarrhea"
continues.
I've done a Lactnet search as well as checked my own texts at home...no go!
Is there something I'm missing, is this a new illness I was unaware of? Or
is this a newfangled way to blame breastfeeding for normal stool changes?
(Just happened after 4th of July).
Baby was born at 5 lbs 12 oz, now at 10 lbs 5 oz. at 3 months of age.
