Just a note on sterile urine containers for breastmilk storage. The
manufacturer of the these containers have indicated their containers are NOT
food grade safe. This has been mentioned before on Lactnet. If someone has
information stating they are OK to use or have a manufacturer that indicates
it is safe please let us know. We are looking to change very soon and are
out shopping as well. Mary Ann Krainz RN, IBCLC in central WI

This has been discussed several times on lactnet and so you may find more
posts in our archives. In my career as a Nicu nurse and LC, I have seen
several different containers used: sterile specimen cups (also called urine
collection jars) which are usually quite cheap and easy to supply;
centrifuge tubes (large test tube looking plastic containers with orange
lids that come on a styrofoam palette in which the tubes stand up in);
sterile water or sugar water bottles (parents dump the water out and use the
container immediately and recap).
