Interesting discussion, thanks to all for your input and
anecdotes.
In doing some research on a different topic, I have learned
that in Muslim tradition there is cross nursing and that
babies who have nursed from the same woman are considered
"milk siblings" and cannot marry one another when they are
grown. Is there anyone on the list who knows more about
this?
Actually, a question arose for me about milk siblings?
How does this apply to banked milk? Banked milk is
pooled from many milk donors, so baby is getting milk
from many anonymous mothers and theoretically has
many anonymous milk siblings. Does this affect Muslim's
ability to give their children banked milk should the
situation call for it? How do milk banks work in Muslim
countries? Does anyone know anything about
this or can someone refer me to someone who would know
about it?
