I had written to NABCO and pointed out that I felt that their info was remiss in mentioning breastfeeding. The reply I rec'd was :
----------
Thank you for contacting NABCO and for expressing an interest in learning
more about breast cancer. In our October issue of NABCO News, we included a
Fact Sheet that highlighted current information on breast cancer risk
factors. In this piece, we did mention that breastfeeding has well
established, multiple benefits for both the mother and infant. In some
studies, breast cancer risk in women who breastfed decreased in proportion to
lifetime duration of lactation. Although research is ongoing, the effect of
breastfeeding on an individual woman's breast cancer risk is likely to be
small.
------
My concern over her reply was the word "small", and I expressed to her that with the soaring rates of breast cancer, any possible reduction in breast cancer is, in theory, 'HUGE' and that statistics vary. I also added that although seen as a 'small' preventative, women are entitled to get all the information, and by adding all of the info together it adds up to be quiet large.

I had written to them as I am now doing a health column in the local paper and this topic is my next column.
