Letter to the Editor:

*In regard to* (REGARDING) the statement that "the scientists found no
evidence of inner
ear disease despite the lack of antibiotics in those days", the scientists
may also be surprised and interested to know the probable *rationale
behind* REASON FOR
this amazing discovery and mystery.

In ancient Egypt the normal, method of feeding and nurturing babies and
young children would have been breastfeeding.
Modern day research is stuffed full
of evidence that breastmilk and breastfeeding is very significantly
protective against ear infections.

The scientists who found no evidence of inner ear disease despite the
lack of antibiotics in ancient Egypt may be surprised to learn the likely
reason for this.

In ancient Egypt, breastfeeding was the only method of feeding babies and
young children. There is much research showing that breastfeeding
protects children against the ear and respiratory infections that
Americans think are a normal part of childhood.
