I fully agree and it is really one of the LAST things I consider
with soreness. However, I have seen a couple cases where no other
reason could be found other than baby being extremely vigorous which
resolved once the milk volume kicked in. Using a shield in these
cases, kept mom from "throwing in the towel" and once the volume
increased, baby was gentler, and they did get rid of the shield.
